Who we are: 

SKFL is a team of engineers, software product, and organisational change professionals who are passionate about creating tools that can help our industry deliver software solutions better, faster and safer. Having worked in our industry for decades, we’ve experienced first hand the issues faced by both the software industry and its customers and the prevalence of project failures, cost overruns and unrealised project value. 

We started SKFL because we believe there is a better way and we are developing a suite of tools that will make this possible.  

The Chasm: 

Software development is an ever increasingly complicated endeavor. From Architecture and Design, to Development and Delivery, a lot can and does go wrong.  A major contributor to these failures is the disconnect between the approaches and tools used in the Architecture and Design phases, and those used for development.  

Design as Code – Bridging the chasm: 

Diagrams and drawing tools are broadly used across the industry in our design work. So much of the information captured in these design diagrams unfortunately is lost as we progress into coding. 

Conversely the languages and tools used in the development phase are impenetrable for management and design teams. Rarely do changes made in development that deviate from design flow back upstream, resulting in a design that is out of sync from reality and a dangerous lack of visibility for management on the solution’s alignment with requirements. 

SKFL Draw 

We’re excited to announce our first product, SKFL Draw has hit Alpha! SKFL Draw has been designed from the ground up to be both human and machine readable. Every diagram you create contains an underlying semantic model that creates the guardrails in design to prevent deviation.
